Description:

Department:
Medical-Surgical.
Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:4-5 during the day and 1:5-6 at night.
Common diagnoses include:
Post Operative - General, Orthopedic, Podiatry.
General Medical cases include:
Diabetes Mellitus, Pneumonia, Congestive Heart Failure, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, Cellulitis, Continuous Bladder Irrigation, BiPAP, and Peritoneal Dialysis (training available).
The unit consists of three areas with a total of 56 beds, allowing staff to work interchangeably.

Experience with surgical drains and wound vacs is preferred.
First-time travelers are welcome.
RNs are not required to titrate drips.
Patients may be monitored, with Central Monitoring by a designated tech.
Charge Nurses manage patients, while Nursing Supervisors are available 24/7 but do not have patient assignments.
Nurse Aides are assigned based on patient acuity, with a typical ratio of 1 Aide for every 12-14 patients.
Nurse Aides may be cross-trained in various tasks, such as phlebotomy, and will assist with phones and call lights.
Respiratory equipment utilized includes BiPAP, High Flow, and Vapotherm.
12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM or 7 PM to 7 AM.
Schedule adjustments are made based on staffing needs.
Every other weekend commitment is required.
Holidays are included in the rotational schedule.
Floating may occur to ICU or Telemetry for Medical-Surgical overflow, within the RN's scope of practice.
Professional scrub color is permitted.
Department-specific orientation will be provided.
