GHR Healthcare - PH Division is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Freeport, Illinois.

* Certifications:
BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNS or TNCC, NIHSS.
* IL license required to submit - Trauma Level: Provide emergency care to our community, non trauma. Stemi/Stroke ready. Cath lab depending on day of week/hours.
- # Beds: 24 in ED.
- Fast Track:
No separate fast track area. Intermixed in the department. - Triage area:
Triage area in the department. Typically will not have travelers in triage. Use ESI rating system. - Holding area in the ER:
Intermixed with the ER patients. ER nurses care for these patients. - Psych/seclusion rooms: 4 behavioral health safe rooms for those patients. Part of the 24 beds. ER nurses care for those patients as well.
- Security in-house 24/7:
In house 24/7. Close to ER and available upon request. Often times they are in ER. - Patients per day: 60-80 per 24 hours.
- Patient Ratios: 1:4-5. They will adjust ratios to staffing situation and acuity.
- Required
Certifications:
ED requires BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, TNS or TNCC, NIHSS. - Common diagnoses:
Respiratory viruses, anything from a stubbed toe- MI- MVA, homeless. Neonates to geriatrics. Moderate sedation experience. Lumbar puncture. Depending on weather, they may have to manage patients longer than other times. This is a community hospital, so they see what ever comes through the door. - Experience:
Flexibility to rotating start times. 3+years of ER experience. Moderate sedation. First time traveler okay. - Common drips:
All critical care drips. - ED Physician/Mid-Levels: 1 provider 7-6p, MD 10-2000. Midlevel 12-0000, Night 6p-6a. Provider coverage based on patient load. Always one physician on staff.
- Charge Nurse/House Supervisor:
House supervisor 24/7. Charge nurse on day shift - sometimes takes patients, jumps in to help where needed, triage, lunches etc. - Nurse aids/EMT: ED tech (CNA/EMT/Paramedic/Could use CMA but only in tech role).
Duties include:
EKG, draw blood (must have phleb experience), assist with wound care, transport, vitals, stock/clean room. No splinting or casting. They have staggered shift starts. Care support with a Secretary that manages throughout/workload. Patient care liaison assist as well- fluff and puffer, making sure rooms are clean, gives warm blankets, etc. - RT in the ER 24/7: RT assigned. Would be called to the department if
