Overview

We are currently accepting applications for this position, with an anticipated hire date at the end of April. Candidates are encouraged to apply early for consideration.

Responsible for overall cleanliness and appearance of the building. Directs the daily activities of the Environmental Services and Linen departments. Responsibilities include finance, budgeting, quality control, procurement, research, safety and health, personnel management, employee relations, computer network, legal and regulatory compliance and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinates work functions with other departments and outside resources as needed to ensure daily work requirements are carried out throughout individual or cooperative efforts
  • Understands and adheres to applicable regulations and standards and coordinates required safety training and documentation to ensure compliance with local, state, federal and organizational regulations and standards pertaining to the operations of Environmental and Linen services.
  • Completes rounding to ensure the cleanliness of patient units, maintenance needs of facility and absence of noise. Maintains consistent visibility to all areas and shifts.
  • Inputs information into EPIC and EVS management software to ensure all areas are up to date. Weekly review of patient satisfaction reports. Monitor patient expectations through satisfaction plans and measurement tools to assure adequate service levels (HCAHPS, Press Ganey). Assists in managing patient throughput process. Collaborate with other departments for the resolution of patient care delivery issues.
  • Monitors key performance improvement activities (goals, key indicators, data collection, and process change effectiveness), standards for quality control and continuous quality improvement. Monitor work of partners to ensure compliance with applicable safety and environmental regulations and document process and results.
  • Develops and manages the overall floor care program.
  • Directs vendor activities in such areas as floor care and mats, integrated pest management, window cleaning, equipment repair, linen services, wastes and supplies.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of safety, emergency, waste and environmental management.
  • Demonstrates dependability by completing assignments within requested timeframe.
  • Evaluates, set standards for and monitors safe usage of cleaning materials, supplies and equipment by partners according to Mercyhealth and all regulations and standards. Includes ensuring equipment repairs are done in a timely manner. Maintains accurate and cost effective inventory of cleaning materials, supplies and equipment, which include ordering of supplies and keeping current on new equipment to help not only save time and costs, but improve quality.
  • Provides initial approval of invoices.
  • Develops partners to ensure retention of most effective partners by assessing needs, addressing and documenting performance and behavior strength/weakness through timely use of coaching, feedback, performance appraisals, corrective actions and termination procedures.
  • Assists in special projects and research to update techniques. Includes gathering and maintenance of statistical data and reporting systems, square footage, cost savings, partner performance, etc.
  • Assists in developing, revising, interpreting and implementing system wide environmental services policies, procedures and operating practices.
  • Reviews applications, interviews, hires, and conducts new hire orientation.
  • Performs and completes department staff scheduling and timecard approval. Including the monitoring and approval of overtime.
  • Responsible for preparation and presentation of department meetings and insuring appropriate staff education.
  • Completes daily reports and/or communicates pertinent information to the environmental services system manager or director.
  • Prepares minutes and reports as required, including linen spreadsheets.
  • Determines work assignments & prepares daily roster.
  • Collaborates in development and implementation of department quarterly performance improvement and dashboard documentation.
  • Advises and assists partners as necessary.
  • Maintains working knowledge of audio-visual equipment (based on worksite requirements).
  • Coordinates department committees and work teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Three to five years of cleaning experience preferred. Healthcare cleaning experience preferred.

Certification/Licensure

(AHA - AHE) CHEST Certification - Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician certification preferred.

(AHA - AHE) CHESP Certification - Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional certification preferred.
