The Role
Techno is seeking a Construction Manager to provide technical and managerial oversight of geotechnical aspects of construction. This role combines geotechnical engineering expertise with construction management responsibilities, supporting safe excavation, ground support, monitoring, and risk mitigation throughout tunneling and underground construction activities. The ideal candidate has deep experience in geotechnical engineering applied to large-scale infrastructure construction.
What You'll Do- Provide geotechnical oversight and construction management support for tunneling, shafts, excavations, and ground improvement activities.
- Review and interpret geotechnical reports, design documents, and specifications to support construction execution.
- Monitor ground behavior, instrumentation, and monitoring data; identify trends and potential risks.
- Coordinate with construction teams, designers, inspectors, and contractors on geotechnical issues and solutions.
- Support evaluation and resolution of differing site conditions and geotechnical-related change events.
- Review submittals, method statements, and work plans related to geotechnical construction activities.
- Ensure construction activities comply with design intent, safety requirements, and contractual obligations.
- Participate in field meetings, risk reviews, and technical workshops.
- Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and recommendations for project leadership.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Experience in geotechnical engineering with a strong focus on construction-phase support.
- Demonstrated experience on large civil, tunneling, underground, or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of ground support systems, excavation methods, and instrumentation and monitoring.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required or strongly preferred (NY and/or NJ).
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.

The expected salary range for this role in New Jersey is $95 - $125 per hour. The total compensation, including salary and bonuses, is determined by various factors such as experience, skill level, location, and qualifications, which are evaluated during the interview process.
