Casual Labourer -Water & Sewer

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Water & Sewer - Engineering and Operations Department, the incumbent will perform work which is physically strenuous in nature and involves the use of hand tools and/or manually operated equipment. Assignments will require the operation of Municipal vehicles. The incumbent may work under supervision and receive daily instruction.

• Secondary education (Grade 12 G.E.D. is acceptable).
• E endorsement (Air Brake) would be considered an asset.
• WHMIS, confined space, and first aid certification.
• Previous municipal or water and sewer related trade experience.
• Valid NB Class 5 driver’s license
  ** You must attach a copy of a valid driver’s license and a current copy of your driver’s abstract in your application.
• Holding a valid NB Class 3 driver’s license is considered an asset.

• Part of the team responsible for operating and maintaining drinking water and sanitary sewer systems.
• Working around drinking water and sanitary sewer facilities and equipment.
• Working around heavy equipment, interacting with the public, working in traffic.
• Working in outdoor conditions performing physically strenuous work.
• Performs related work as required.
• Ability to work after hours and willingness to work shifts as required.

• Ability to follow instructions accurately as issued by a Foreman or Supervisor.
• Knowledge of the occupational hazards involved and the safety precautions necessary in work assignments.
• Responds calmly in the face of job-related stresses and pressures.
• Demonstrates punctuality and reliability.
• Has the ability to establish and maintain respectful, cooperative, and professional working relationships with your team and community at all times.
• Has the ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team.
