Salary Range: $18.84 to $38.38 per hour - Bachelor’s $18.84 to $28.30, Masters $25.17 to $31.69, PhD $29.64 to $38.38. Varies as per the level of education and experience.

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is looking for a Student – Soil Carbon to join our team in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

At AAFC, we work with farmers and food producers to support the growth and development of the agriculture and agri-food sector. The impression we make can be seen from the farmer to the consumer and through all phases of producing, processing and marketing of farm, food and bio-based products.

Due to the breadth of the research undertaken at the Centre, the individual will provide support and technical assistance at an Agriculture and Agri-Food Research Centre in the soil carbon team by:

• Contributing to the development of soil carbon analytical methods and evaluation techniques.
• Contributing to the development of new soil carbon techniques and methods.
• Contributing to collection and completion of soil data analysis.
• Assisting with laboratory and field support for soil research programs.
• Carries out research activities under lab and/or field conditions.

The students will initially and primarily be expected to support soil researchers. Depending on the profile and interest of the selected candidates, conducting original research might be offered.

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor, Master’s or PhD program in a recognized post-secondary institution in soil science, forestry natural resources, agronomy, environmental science or other relevant discipline
• Experience
  * in performing laboratory studies to analyze soil.
