MAAP was formed in 2016 in response to the need to strengthen the sector, to increase capacity, and to advance communication and collaboration. MAAP represents and is composed of independent media arts organizations, collectives, and organizers in British Columbia and the Yukon. We believe:

The Media Arts Alliance of the Pacific (MAAP) is seeking a self-directed, visionary individual to lead this burgeoning arts service organization into the next stage of its development through stakeholder engagement, grant writing, policy making, and community outreach. The Regional Director will be responsible for community outreach and member engagement to identify how MAAP can grow to meet the needs of its stakeholders, and for securing the resources necessary to continue the organization's work.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for an individual familiar with the media arts sector and passionate about the role arts service organizations can play in creating a thriving media arts ecosystem. The successful candidate will share our vision of a diverse, equitable, and sustainable media arts community in the Pacific Region that contributes to a vibrant national and international arts sector.

The Regional Director will also be responsible for managing the organization's day-to-day operations and engaging with other media art service organizations nationwide. This position reports to the Board of Directors.

Remote Term:
June 2026 to May 2027, 1-year with possibility of extension

Hours:

Approx. 14 hours/week Contract Value: $19,000

Responsibilities:
  • Build and maintain relationships with media arts organizations as well as individual artists and cultural professionals working in the media arts sector
  • Identify and engage prospective members, stakeholders, and partners, including other arts service organizations
  • Provide support to members, process member applications, and maintain the member database
  • Work with the board to develop a vision, strategic plan, and supportive policy framework to guide the organization
  • Research and write grants to secure funding for operational and programming expenses
  • Oversee and administer the operating budget, including invoicing, payment processing, and cash flow management
  • Systematically file important organizational documents, including member files, program files, vendor files, and other files related to MAAP's operations
  • Develop and maintain the organization’s public presence via newsletters, social media, and website maintenance
  • Replying to emails and responding to general inquiries
Qualifications:
  • Experience writing successful grant applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience in building sustained relationships
  • Familiarity with the Canadian media arts sector
  • Strong leadership skills, as well as the ability to be self-directed and work independently
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines
  • Proficient in computer skills and MS applications including Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Experience with collaboratively planning conferences or events
  • Familiarity with arts service organizations is an asset
  • Familiarity with social media management and website design an asset
  • Experience with advocacy an asset
