Salary Range: $68,143 - $88,587 per annum
YOUR FOCUSThis role is a shared role between DataNB and ACENET, thus has dual reporting responsibilities to the Director, DataNB and the Client Engagement & Support Manager, ACENET. The Research Consultant will focus on the development of the remote cloud data storage and access solution for DataNB. The Research Consultant will be embedded within the ACENET team but work directly with DataNB on system development.
- Design and implement a secure computer network that connects on‑site trusted research environment to a cloud environment hosted on the ACENET server network, though under the effective control of DataNB.
- Complete the design and implementation of necessary firewalls and two‑factor authentication for remote data access to the ACENET server network for approved projects and data sets.
- Design systems to ensure and monitor compliance with privacy impact assessments, threat and risk assessments, policies, procedures, and agreements in collaboration with the DataNB privacy officer and data manager.
- Provide support to DataNB staff during the design, installation, and test phases.
- Consult with team members, both new and experienced, in a timely manner to provide support and expertise in HPC, GPU, and Cloud, with a particular emphasis on Digital Health related topics.
- Establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure the ACENET DataNB analytical service is meeting their current and future needs.
- Support the planning and execution of digital health projects.
- Develop and implement technical solutions to address client needs.
- Maintain and expand knowledge of current and emerging trends, policies, regulations, and standards in digital health in the Canadian context and the New Brunswick context.
- Facilitate connections with subject experts within the region and throughout ACENET's national network.
- Assist ACENET's executive team in developing and executing a regional strategy for growing and supporting the digital health community.
- Write and maintain documentation.
- Participate in relevant national committees, working groups, and research support activities.
- Undergraduate degree in computer science, health informatics, or a similar discipline.
- 3+ years' experience working in a relevant field. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency in relevant areas of Digital Health. We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in secure cloud computing, data science, health data standards, security and privacy.
- Knowledge of Cloud systems including but not limited to AWS, Microsoft Azure and VMware is required. Knowledge of VMWare Horizons would be considered a positive asset.
- Knowledge of network design and security would be an asset, especially in the context of implementing networks with Cisco equipment.
- Experience developing and implementing scientific gateways (virtual research environments) is considered an asset.
- Experience in data analytics and/or Artificial Intelligence in health science.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, and the ability to translate scientific and technical terms into plain language.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
- A strong client-focused work ethic.
