We are excited to be looking for a results-driven Controller to lead the financial accounting, reporting, and payroll operations for ANBL and Cannabis NB. This is a high-impact leadership role in a complex, dual-entity environment, where you’ll ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance across all financial processes while driving efficiency and continuous improvement.

As Controller, you’ll oversee a talented team of Assistant Controllers, Accountants, and Payroll professionals, ensuring timely reporting, audit readiness, and strong governance. You’ll play a critical role in stabilizing day-to-day operations and creating capacity for Finance to operate strategically.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the controllership function for ANBL and CNB, including accounting, reporting, payroll, and compliance;
  • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, financial statements, and audit deliverables;
  • Ensure adherence to IFRS and internal control standards;
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to a multi-level finance team;
  • Drive improvements in reporting accuracy, process efficiency, and governance;
  • Collaborate with FP&A and business units to enhance financial insights and support strategic decisions;
  • Maintain strong banking relationships and oversee payroll integration into financial systems.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a leadership role;
  • Expertise in IFRS, internal controls, and audit management;
  • Experience managing payroll operations and ERP systems (Microsoft GP/Dynamics 365 an asset);
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills;
  • Ability to lead teams and build process discipline in a fast-paced environment.
