Recreation Supervisor

Position Overview: The City of Fredericksburg is seeking a dedicated and experienced Recreation Supervisor to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in the planning, organizing, and implementation of recreational activities for Pre‑K, Youth, and Adults with a focus on Outdoor Recreation. This position will operate under the supervision of the Superintendent of Recreation. Work involves scheduling and training staff, enforcement of established rules and guidelines, purchasing supplies, and planning and leading community programming.

• Create & implement high‑quality community programs, camps, and classes
  • Preschool Programs:
    Indoor Play Park, Arts & Crafts, Log Cabin Storytime, etc.
  • Youth Programs:
    Camps, After‑school activities, birding hikes, etc.
  • Adult Programs:
    Painting, Puzzlooza, Escape Room, etc.
  • Other programs and events as needed.
• Hire, support, train, and supervise program staff.
• Utilize recreational management software for promotion and scheduling of programs.
• Support outdoor field trips, birthday parties, retreats, etc.
• Record and track expenses, attendance, and participant feedback.
• Work flexible hours, typically outside of those of direct supervision.

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Facility Management, Public Administration, Education, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in professional recreation work, including programming and coordinating recreational activities.
• Preferred:
  Professional certification through National Parks and Recreation Association.
