We are currently offering up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus for experienced EPG Field Technician new hires.
Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Technician in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Electric Power Generation (EPG) Field Service Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex operational failures in electrical generator systems and related engine failures at customer sites.
Candidates should have a minimum of three years’ experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex issues, including heavy electrical repairs to generator systems and related equipment. Experience with megger and vibration testing, genset alignment, installation, and commissioning is required. A high school diploma or GED is required.
Sign-on Bonus Details: A $10,000 bonus is available for candidates with at least three years of relevant experience. Candidates with less than three years are eligible for a $2,000 bonus. Bonuses are paid in two installments at 90 and 180 days of employment.

- An excellent driving record, with the ability to obtain a CDL and DOT certification.
- Willingness to work additional hours and travel, including out-of-town and international trips.
- Proficiency with technical software, databases, and manuals.

Physical requirements include lifting up to 70 pounds, repetitive reaching, standing, kneeling, bending, climbing, and working outside in various weather conditions. Specific vision abilities are also necessary.
