Job Summary /Basic FunctionsThe University of Mary Washington has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Carpenter. The Senior Carpenter performs highly skilled carpentry work in one or more of the following modes: serves as project leader; serves as team leader and/or team member; works independently to provide senior-level carpentry tasks.
Required KSAs/Competencies/Qualifications- Considerable knowledge of all phases of carpentry and building maintenance
- Working knowledge of math, including fractions and decimals
- Considerable skills in the use of hand and power tools related to the carpentry trade
- Demonstrated ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Considerable experience in the carpentry trade
- Considerable experience with maintaining records
- Considerable experience interpreting drawings, blueprints, and work orders
- Considerable experience making cost estimates of labor and materials
- Considerable experience working in confined spaces and working from heights, ladders and scaffolding
- Considerable experience performing manual labor, including lifting and carrying equipment and tools to and from job sites
EDUCATION:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Vocational or trade school training in carpentry
