The Server is responsible for courteously serving resident and guest meals, and for clean-up and resetting of the dining room following meal service. Assists residents when placing orders from the menu. Provides beverage service (water, iced tea, juices, milk and coffee/tea). Refill salt/pepper/sugar bowls prior to and after each meal. Reports any broken equipment or tableware to supervisor. Understands sit-down service and proper serving techniques.
Has a basic understanding of food preparation (salads, desserts, etc.). Knowledge of proper food storage and labeling techniques. Sweeps, mops, and vacuums kitchen and dining room. Attends required in-services and staff meetings. Completes all other duties assigned. Must be attentive to special needs of residents including mobility deficits, memory impairment, etc. Assists with tray service. Follows confidentiality policies regarding release of resident information.
Interacts in a polite, considerate manner with residents, guests, co-workers and supervisors.
- Assist with tray service and provide courteous dining room service; maintain dining room cleanliness before and after meal periods.
- Take and place menu orders for residents; provide beverage service and refills as needed.
- Monitor and report any equipment or tableware issues to supervisor.
- Follow proper sit-down service techniques and basic food preparation concepts for salads, desserts, etc.
- Ensure proper food storage and labeling practices.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum kitchen and dining areas as required; maintain a clean work environment.
- Attend required in-services and staff meetings; perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident information and interact respectfully with residents, guests, co-workers and supervisors.
- Be attentive to residents with special needs (mobility deficits, memory impairment, etc.).
- Clean designated uniform during working hours and maintain good personal hygiene.
- Ability to read and follow simple instructions; perform simple, repetitive tasks.
- Ability to learn quickly and apply learned principles; communicate effectively; work under close supervision.
- Physical ability to bend, reach, grasp, push and pull objects; stand and walk for extended periods (up to 3 hours at a time).
- Ability to lift 50 lbs on a regular basis and carry heavy objects for up to 20 feet.
- Must be organized and willing to work well with other team members.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.
