The Sr. Operations Manager is responsible for all budgetary, people development, and operational objectives. The role oversees all aspects of operation or functions at the site, manages and leads a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaches and mentors the team to ensure performance objectives are met, builds positive employee relations, and strengthens leadership bench strength within the Fulfillment Center.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other lean initiatives to enable the functional area and the FC to exceed business plans.
  • Maintain overall safety, quality, performance, and customer experience for either inbound or outbound operations.
  • Set and clarify requirements and expectations for Operations and Area Managers, measure performance, provide feedback, and hold Ops Managers accountable.
  • Leverage Operations and Area Managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas, and incorporating them into improvement plans for the functional area.
  • Take proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and the network.
  • Work closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and other Sr. Operations Managers) to secure support, resources for projects, and provide needed resources for other staff initiatives.
Additional Job Elements
  • Lifting and moving totes up to 49 pounds each.
  • Regular bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
  • Walking in the FC and around the area frequently; facilities extend over a quarter mile.
  • Continual standing and/or walking an average of 5 miles daily.
  • Ability to work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, or not air‑conditioned.
  • Access all areas of the building, including ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment.
  • Prior experience with performance metrics, process improvement, and Lean techniques.
  • Prior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions, and termination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Operations or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Experience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.
  • Ability to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.
  • Interest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple FCs across the nation.

The base salary range for this position is $135,000 - $182,700 annually. For salaried roles, your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
