Occupational Therapist - Pediatric Outpatient - CHOR Fredericksburg - PRN

Occupational Therapist PRN conducts evaluations on referred patients.

  • Plans and implements a comprehensive treatment program that includes discharge planning, patient/family education, and recommendations for follow‑up or continued care.
  • Documents results of the OT evaluation and services provided in accordance with hospital and department guidelines.
  • Participates as a member of a self‑directed departmental team as well as an interdisciplinary patient care team.
  • Provides clinical instruction to OT and OTA students as needed and offers training and education to department and hospital staff.
Licensure, Certification, and Registration
  • Licensed (or licensed eligible) by the Commonwealth of Virginia as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Completion of licensing requirements for new graduates within 1 year of graduation.
  • Maintenance of licensure once granted.
  • Current CPR Certification if required by clinic or practice area.
Required Experience
  • New graduate to up to 2 years of work experience as an Occupational Therapist.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous affiliation or work experience at a similar facility.
Required Education / Training
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
Preferred Education / Training
  • Masters or Doctoral Degree from an accredited School of Occupational Therapy.
Independent Actions
  • Evaluation and treatment of patients with routine diagnoses.
  • Setting schedule and managing time.
  • Reporting in interdisciplinary rounds.
  • Goal setting for routine diagnoses.
  • Completion of routine documentation.
  • Interaction with the interdisciplinary team and self‑directed work team.
  • Customer interaction.
  • Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): provides supervision for Rehab Technicians, COTA staff, volunteers and students doing clinical rotations.
Work Schedule
  • Schedules and work hours will be established with your specific manager.
  • Schedules, including weekends and holidays, will be required based on the unit’s organizational and staffing needs.
  • Hours may include days or nights as per PRN nature.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting 50-100 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), and reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
  • Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, speaking clearly.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, logical thinking.
  • Ability to handle fast‑pace environments, steady pace, multiple priorities, noisy environment, frequent and intense customer interactions, and adapt to frequent change.
