Description
Responsibilities:
- Arrives promptly for scheduled yearbook classes, meetings, work sessions, and required school activities; remains until assigned responsibilities are completed
- Builds a positive, organized, and collaborative environment that encourages student creativity, responsibility, and teamwork; trains students in habits, routines, and deadlines consistent with the FCS philosophy
- Oversees the planning, design, content development, and production of the Upper School yearbook, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely completion
- Guides students in journalistic storytelling, photography standards, layout design, and editing processes
- Works with students to develop and adhere to a yearbook production timeline, budget, and publishing deadlines
- Collaborates with administration, faculty, staff, and student organizations to gather content, photos, and information representative of the school year
- Reviews and approves all yearbook content, ensuring alignment with FCS values, mission, and standards
- Integrates biblical principles into leadership, teamwork, communication, and storytelling, placing God’s Word in a central role throughout the yearbook process
- Prays regularly for students and disciples them through mentorship, encouragement, and Christ-centered leadership
- Supervises students during yearbook meetings, events, and activities as required
- Coordinates with the yearbook publishing company, vendors, and school finance office as needed
- Communicates clearly and regularly with students, parents, and school leadership regarding expectations, deadlines, and progress; responds to parent emails within 24 hours
- Attends required faculty meetings, Prayer ‘N’ Share as directed, and school events related to yearbook coverage
- Uses relevant technology tools and software for layout, photo management, and publication with support from the FCS technology department
- Dresses professionally and modestly in accordance with the Staff Dress Code
- Seeks awareness of the total school vision and serves willingly in special areas that enhance the overall effectiveness of the ministry
Requirements
General Description and QualificationsThe Upper School Yearbook Advisor supports and advances the mission of FCS by mentoring students through the creation of the annual yearbook; reports to the Principal or designated administrator. The Yearbook Advisor should have the following qualifications:
- Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord, maintained through personal spiritual disciplines and active participation in school spiritual life (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
- Exhibits Christian character and serves as a role model for students, with readiness to share faith in Christ as part of the school’s mission (1 Timothy 4:12)
- Regular attendance at a Protestant, Bible-believing church whose beliefs align with the FCS Statement of Faith (Hebrews 10:25)
- Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in actions, beliefs, or lifestyles contrary to biblical standards (Romans 12:1–2; I Corinthians 6:9–20;
Ephesians 4:1–11, 5:3–5; I Thessalonians 4:3–8; I Timothy 4:12; II Timothy 2:19–22; I Peter 1:15–16; I John 3:1–3) - If married, demonstrates a solid commitment to marriage based on Mark 10:9
- Strong commitment to Christian education and student discipleship
- Experience or background in journalism, graphic design, photography, communications, or a related field preferred
- Ability to mentor and manage Upper School students in a project-based, deadline-driven environment
- Well organized, detail-oriented, creative, and able to manage long-term projects
- Comfortable using technology and design software related to yearbook production
- Ability to maintain an orderly, encouraging, and productive working atmosphere
- Enthusiastic, patient, and supportive rapport with students; cooperative and communicative with parents and staff
- Ability to meet physical requirements related to the role, such as supervising students during events and moving throughout the campus
- Teachable spirit and servant-hearted attitude
