Overview

Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Substitute Teachers who will serve in a critical role that supports the educational environment in the absence of the classroom teacher. As a Substitute at SCPS, you will teach lesson plans as outlined by the teacher, encourage and maintain a positive classroom environment and work closely with students to ensure their academic needs are met.

This position offers networking and experience opportunities for those new to education and for those who have been part of the industry for many years.

• Teach lesson plans as outlined by the teacher.
• Encourage and maintain a positive classroom environment.
• Work closely with students to ensure their academic needs are met.
• Collaborate with staff and administration to support student learning.

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Preferred age of 21 years or older.
• If an applicant is under 21, proof of enrollment in an education program must be provided.

• Substitute Daily Rate: $102.50/day without a four-year degree
• Substitute Daily Rate: $112.75/day with a four-year degree or higher or teacher certification
• Substitute Daily Rate: $92.25/day para educator
• Permanent Substitute Daily Rate: $138.38/day

• $153.75/day
• $199.88/day with a teacher certification

Please complete the online application. Once submitted, obtain a current (within the last year) physician's certificate indicating you are free of communicable tuberculosis. If you do not have a current certificate, the TB test may be administered by your family doctor or an appointment can be made with one of the local health departments for a nominal fee.
