Responsibilities of the Classroom Teacher
Arrives at school promptly and stays until such time as necessary responsibilities are completedDevelops a warm rapport with students and a positive, secure, neat and attractive classroom environment; trains students in habits and routines which are part of the FCS philosophy; maintains excellent student conduct and attentionBecomes very familiar with yearly curriculum objectives and participates actively in curriculum writing and revisingDevelops professionally by exploring and being willing to implement new instructional techniques and curriculumUses Curriculum Trak software to prepare lesson plans to ensure that the objectives of the curriculum are being metKeeps attendance records, records grades according to department standards, and records of other monies from special projects if applicableFosters a spirit of patriotism and respect by conducting daily pledgesPlaces God's Word in a central position in daily instruction, integrating its principles throughout the dayPrays regularly for each child and presents the Gospel message and other biblical instruction with sensitivity and love; faithfully follows the philosophy and Bible guidelines of the schoolIndividualizes instruction and student assessment to meet the needs of both weaker and stronger students in cooperation with Resource Center and fellow teachersLearns and applies educationally relevant technology skills for teaching, learning, and administrative tasks with support from the FCS technology departmentEnriches basic curriculum with field trips, creative assignments, and library resourcesChecks student work and sends it home on a regular basisMaintains close, cooperative relationship with parents, communicating frequently with parents and responding to parent emails within 24 hoursAttends weekly faculty meetings, Prayer 'N' Share at least one time weekly, and evening activities of the school as directed; participates in professional developmentIs prompt and faithful with supervision duty on a regularly scheduled basisDresses professionally and modestly, following the Staff Dress CodeSeeks an awareness of the total school vision and serves willingly in special areas which enhance the overall effectiveness of the ministryRequirements General Description and Qualifications
The Classroom Teacher supports and advances the mission of FCS by directing the activities of a class of students; reports to the Principal. The Classroom Teacher should have the following qualifications:
Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord, maintained through personal routines (such as prayer and reading the Bible) and in the school setting (through regular participation in “Prayer and Share” devotional times and other spiritual development opportunities at the school) (1 Thessalonians 5:11)Possesses Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people and readiness to share faith in Christ with students as part of our school’s mission (1 Timothy 4:12)Regular in attendance at a Christian, protestant, Bible-believing church, whose fundamental beliefs are not contrary to the FCS Statement of Faith (Hebrews 10:25)Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in actions, beliefs, or lifestyles contrary to biblical standards, such as premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior (Romans 12:1-2, I Corinthians 6:9-20, Ephesians 4:1-11, 5:3-5, I Thessalonians 4:3-8, I Timothy 4:12, II Timothy 2:19-22, I Peter 1:15-16, 2:15-17, I John 3:1-3)If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationshipStrong commitment to Christian educationBachelor's or graduate degree in the subject related to application, and including education coursesCommitted to keeping ACSI or state certification current according to FCS guidelinesAbility to maintain an orderly learning atmosphereEnthusiastic, sensitive, loving rapport with students, openness with parents and staffStrong grasp of subject matter and keen ability to communicate concepts to students with a variety of learning styles, stimulate higher level thinking, and involve students in lessonsWell organized, diligent, creativeAbility to carry out physical requirements related to the job and building environment, such as (but not limited to) climbing stairs, riding the bus, supervising students both out-of-doors and indoorsTeachable, servant spirit#J-18808-Ljbffr
