Salary Range: $58,918 - $64,800
Key Responsibilities- Review, analyze, and process financial transactions including billings, reports and statements to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization
- Review, reconcile and post daily cash receipt transactions to relevant databases.
- Research and audit financial discrepancies and report findings in compliance with GAAP
- Identify, investigate and reconcile cash and bank account discrepancies and take corrective action to resolve them to maintain the accuracy and integrity of general ledger accounts.
- Prepare and analyze end-of-month reports and submit findings to relevant departments
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles, laws, and city policies
- Provide excellent customer service to employees, vendors, and other stakeholders through various communication channels
- Assist with annual audit and may serve as a liaison with other departments
- Maintain Treasurer’s Departmental records in line with retention schedules
- Offer guidance and mentorship to subordinate staff
- Serves as backup to other staff members including cashiers
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
- Two years of experience in accounting work, or equivalent education and experience
Skills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and city policies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software, including advanced Excel skills. Tyler Cashiering/Munis experience preferred or a plus
- Ability to deliver high-quality customer service and handle confidential information with discretion
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills and ability to mentor others
