This position is responsible for providing job coaching support to the Frederick County Scott Key Center and will supervise the work of adults groups with intellectual & developmental disabilities. The Job Coach is responsible for providing support and instruction to the individual at their job site location throughout Frederick County. This position must be willing to be flexible with job assignments to meet the specific needs of the people working independent jobs.
Supervision may be received from the Day Support Manager, Community Support Manager, and/or Senior Community Support Manager.
- Plan and implement a job coaching strategy with an I/DD individual
- Assess the professional strengths and weaknesses of individual
- Discover what motivates the individual and assist them in utilizing that motivation in the workplace
- Assist employees with disabilities in learning and excelling in their job functions
- Provide instruction and supervision in a Day Habilitation, Community Access or supported employment programs as assigned
- Utilize behavior management techniques to ensure appropriate work behavior
- Assist assigned workers in their relationships with employers and co-workers
- Compile and prepare daily progress notes, records and reports and participate in progress reviews
- Maintain daily documentation and attendance records

Qualifications- Minimum age of 18 years at time of application
- Experience, education or training closely related to human services or vocational rehabilitation
- Possession of a valid automobile operator's license
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or ability to obtain same within 90 days of hire
- Ability to maintain County Authorized Driver privileges
- Ability to effectively initiate programs and activities and to provide active leadership and motivation for persons with developmental disabilities, with in-depth perception of client/employer needs and priorities
- Ability to effectively access and utilize computerized systems and equipment (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, email)
- Ability to develop and maintain effective, objective working relationships with clients, co-workers, employers and the general public
- Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise reports using behavioral terminology
- While working in this position, the employee is occasionally sitting, walking, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing up to and over 40 pounds, performing repetitive motions, and driving.
- While working in this position, the employee is occasionally working indoors, outdoors, work in confined spaces, noisy, potentially exposure to infectious diseases, and required to wear protective equipment.
- Available to work varied working hours for special activities, meetings, programs, etc.
- Current certifications must be maintained during tenure of employment
