Axle is looking to add a driven, flexible, organized, and meticulous Veterinary Pathologist to our dynamic team. The Contractor(s) shall provide services in support of the overall functions of the Office of Chief Scientist - Integrated Research Facility (OCSIRF), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID).
Technical Requirements- Provide pathology services to support animal studies, including pathology and histology support by performing necropsies and assessing histologic analyses to support research efforts.
- Responsible for postmortem examination (necropsy) in the BSL-4 containment laboratory, and documentation of gross observations/diagnoses in support of animal studies.
- Provide expertise in: necropsy (examination, data capture, and reporting); histopathology (examination, data capture, and reporting); histology/immunohistochemistry lab operations; histomorphometry operations/analysis; and digital pathology operations/services.
- Work with research staff to complete necropsies and sample analyses.
- Perform and facilitate gross and histologic examination of samples collected during necropsies including special stains, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization; develop comprehensive written reports.
- Additional duties include supporting mission priorities in laboratory setting to complete research studies.
- Board certified Veterinary Pathologist (DVM, ACVP); with PhD preferred.
- Previous recent biocontainment (BSL-3 or BSL-4) experience required; BSL-4 experience preferred.

SalaryThis role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
$140,000 - $170,000 USD
