Summary:

The Cell & Systems Biology Staff Scientist focuses on understanding the cellular mechanisms involved in host‑pathogen interactions and supports integrated multiomics research in high‑containment environments. The role supports laboratory research in cell biology and systems biology to study mechanisms of disease and host response to infection.

Essential Job Functions:

• Conduct in vitro and in vivo experiments to characterize cellular response.
• Work closely with proteomics and transcriptomics teams.
• Support data integration for systems biology models.
• Prepare SOPs and regulatory‑compliant reports.
• Train junior personnel in lab methods.
• The contractor will be expected to execute assigned tasks, share findings with other members of the project team, and possess good written and oral communication skills.
• The contractor is expected to write reports and publications and present findings in meetings.

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

• Knowledge of immunological signaling pathways.
• Familiarity with tissue sample processing.
• Strong analytical and collaboration skills.
• Shall be knowledgeable in a relevant field of the life sciences and have desired experience working in a research laboratory.
• Shall have demonstrated subject matter expertise in at least one area, and the ability to conduct independent research through publication of several technical reports and/or peer‑reviewed publications.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in biology or related field.
• Minimum 4+ years in biomedical, cellular, or systems biology research.
• Experience in cell culture and imaging techniques.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance eligibility, with no access to classified information, is required.
• Enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• ACTIVE SECRET is preferred.
• Master's degree preferred.

The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $113,000 annually.
