Frederick Health Medical Group (FHMG), a highly respected 160+ provider, multi-specialty medical group, is seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APP) - Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant - to join our Urgent Care team. This role is ideal for APPs who thrive in a high-energy clinical environment, enjoy broad clinical variety, and value working within a collaborative care model.

As an urgent care provider, you will deliver timely, high-quality care to patients with acute illnesses and injuries - helping keep patients out of the emergency department while ensuring safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.

About the Role

In this role, you will function as a clinician, consultant, and trusted resource to patients and the care team. In collaboration with other care team members, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of urgent medical conditions while coordinating care and ensuring smooth patient flow in a busy clinical setting.

You will play a key role in upholding Frederick Health’s mission, vision, and core values - providing care that is efficient, compassionate, and grounded in evidence-based practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute illnesses and minor injuries in a fast-paced urgent care setting
  • Perform focused exams, order and interpret labs and imaging, and develop evidence-based treatment plans
  • Perform common urgent care procedures within scope of practice (e.g., suturing, wound care, splinting)
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure efficient patient flow and high patient satisfaction
  • Provide clear patient education, discharge instructions, and appropriate follow-up care
  • Document care accurately and timely in the EMR while maintaining regulatory and quality standards

Required Qualifications

Education & Licensure

  • Nurse Practitioner:
    Master’s degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Physician Assistant:
    Graduation from an accredited PA program
  • Active Maryland license (or ability to obtain)
  • Current DEA license and Maryland Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) license
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or approved provider)
  • Unrestricted license with no history of suspension or revocation
  • Eligible for participation with all payers

Skills & Experience

  • Prior experience in Urgent Care, Emergency Medicine, or Primary Care
  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based practice
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR experience preferred)
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a team-based environment
