Job | Amazon Data Services, Inc. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continual access to the cloud. AWS is seeking Data Center Technicians to support customers in multiple locations. This position requires the successful candidate to report to a site location.
Role is focused on ensuring availability and reliability of data center operations, may involve participation in an on-call rotation, monitoring infrastructure, coordinating incidents, and rapid resolution of issues impacting service availability. The role may require after-hours work to maintain global data center reliability. You will work independently and as part of a team; effective communication, prioritization, and quick reaction are critical.
You will install equipment, create documentation, and contribute to process improvements in a 24/7 data center environment. Travel within and outside the regional work area is required; a reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license are necessary as company transportation is not provided.
All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations:
Regularly lift up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds; work in 24/7 environments; climb ladders and stairs; bend, lift, stretch, reach, stand and walk up to 8+ hours a day; work in cramped, elevated, and noisy environments.

Note:
For positions in Oregon (OR) and Ohio (OH), sites are within the AWS Gov Cloud region with access restricted to U.S. Citizens. Gov Cloud access may not be available from outside the United States.
- Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability; escalate to senior technicians and management as needed.
- Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help train and onboard new team members.
- Take ownership of technical issues reported by customers, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution.
- Solve problems at their root and understand the broader context.
- Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting.
- 2+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience
- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- High school or equivalent diploma
- Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating under pressure

The starting pay for this position is listed below. Final starting pay will be based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
