DescriptionJob Summary
Supports, and is responsible for incorporating into job performance, the Frederick Health (FH) mission, vision, core values and customer service philosophy and adheres to the FH Compliance Program, including following all regulatory requirements and the FH Standards of Behavior.
Responsible for the completion of birth certificates and fetal death certificates including transcribing information into the State of Maryland Electronic Vital Records System ((MDEDRS)
Example of
Essential Functions:
- Scans and indexes all completed documents into the hospitals electronic medical record system.
- Updates all newborns names in the hospitals electronic medical record system.
- Communicates on a regular basis with Vital Records division of births, participates in training with the State Department and follows all procedures issued by the State Department concerning the birth process.
- Participates in ongoing feedback with the hospital nursing leadership as it pertains to the birth policies and procedures. Effectively communicates to improve processes and turnaround times with our birth registration process.
- Responsible for completing affidavit of parentage paperwork.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to use good judgment when dealing with others.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to alphabetize names and sequence numbers.
- Ability to use computer terminal for prolonged periods.
- Good decision making and problem solving skills.
- Good public relations and communication skills.
- Familiarity with health records and recording keeping systems preferred.
- Ability to sit, walk, and stand throughout the day.
- Ability to reach, bend, lift, and carry medical records.
- Ability to work under time and productivity constraints.
- Ability to interact with patient care personnel.
- Ability to work in an environment that is conducive to frequent distractions.
- Demonstrates proficiency with computer terminals, printers, copy machines, and fax machines.
- Ability to follow hospital policy as it pertains to hand hygiene and isolation procedures on the hospital units
Minimum Education , Training, and Experience
Required:
- High school graduate or GED required
- One year experience working in a hospital or physician office
- A working knowledge of computer keyboard and typing ability is required. Keyboarding ability of 45wpm

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable.
Hourly Range: $17.00-$22.66
Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm with rotating weekends
40 hours per week
High School or better.
