• Provide pathology services to support animal studies, including assisting the Federal Task Leader to manage a team of pathology, histology and clinical pathology professionals to support necropsy and histology research efforts.
• Coordinate pathology and histology support with research staff; perform postmortem examinations (necropsy) in a BSL-4 containment laboratory and document gross observations/diagnoses in support of animal studies.
• Apply expertise in necropsy, histopathology, histology/immunohistochemistry, histomorphometry, and digital pathology operations/services.
• Assist the Federal Task Leader with managing a team of pathology, histology and clinical pathology professionals.
• Coordinate necropsies and sample analyses with research staff.
• Perform and facilitate gross and histologic examination of samples collected during necropsies, including special stains, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization; develop comprehensive written reports.
• Support mission priorities in the laboratory setting to complete research studies.

• Board certified Veterinary Pathologist (DVM, ACVP);
  PhD preferred.
• Minimum required: recent biocontainment (BSL-3 or BSL-4) experience; BSL-4 experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.

This role has a market-competitive salary with an anticipated base compensation range listed below. Actual salaries will vary depending on a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location.

Salary Range: $140,000 - $170,000 USD
