The Health Science Awards Manager will provide scientific and administrative oversight for research awards funded by the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP), which supports innovative, high-impact biomedical research to address critical gaps for military Service Members, Veterans, and the broader public. In this role, you will manage the full lifecycle of research awards—from award negotiations to performance monitoring, compliance, and closeout.
You will collaborate with investigators, regulatory agencies, and team members to ensure that funded research is performed according to the award requirements.
To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess U.S. Citizenship without the need for sponsorship, both now and in the future. Applicants without proof of U.S. Citizenship will not be considered due to the position’s security clearance requirements.
Responsibilities- Oversee the lifecycle of research awards, including serving as the technical point of contact for award negotiations and monitoring award performance, compliance, and closeout.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including human subjects, animal research, and biosafety.
- Track award progress against milestones, review technical progress reports, and evaluate relevance of scientific outputs, including but not limited to publications, patents and clinical outcomes.
- Identify key research accomplishments and prepare written products and oral briefings highlighting significant research outcomes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for investigators, acting as liaison with Defense Health Agency Contracting Activity, Office of Research and Regulatory Compliance, CDMRP program staff and stakeholders.
- Participate in relevant scientific meetings and in CDMRP working groups.
- Present updates and briefings to CDMRP, USAMRDC, and leadership.
- Master’s degree in biomedical science
- Minimum of two years of biomedical/clinical research
- Grants management experience
- Strong communication, organization, and scientific writing skills
- Experience with Electronic Grants System (EGS).
- Science Officer Training Program (SOTP) successful completion.
- Prior work experience at CDMRP.
