The salary range (or hiring range) for this exempt position has been established at: $75,000-$84,000

The above salary range represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Responsibilities:The employee shall provide laboratory support to cover CGS functional capabilities including nucleic acid extraction and sequencing library preparation with quality assessment testing, Illumina, and/or Oxford nanopore and/or Pac Bio sequencing, Immunological Assays, and biochemical assays. Shall perform laboratory experiments/protocols directed by CGS Supervisors. The employee shall be hands‑on in high‑throughput sequencing library preparation, PCR amplification, nucleic acid extraction and quality control measures.
The employee shall perform sample loading and processing on all sequencing platforms. The employee shall conduct work independently, timely for multiple tasks, shall be flexible with mission demands, and work cooperatively under the technical guidance of a PI.
- Shall sequence viral, bacterial, and eukaryotic genomes and manage BSL-2 laboratory workspace . This task includes assay development and performing sample processing for high-throughput sequencing library preparation for Pac Bio platforms. Library preparation includes PCR amplification, nucleic acid extraction and quality control measures as outlined in SOPs reviewed and implemented by CGS. Samples are provided by USAMRIID and may reach approximately 400 samples per year/104 sequencing runs annually .
This task includes overs eeing laboratory safety IAW USAMRIID regulation guidelines for work in the laboratory (BSL-2) . - Manage chemical reagent inventory and satellite accumulation points and manage safety training records of all personnel . Maintain 100% compliance with all USAMRIID Safety requirements and provide a Safety and Chemical Hygiene Report to the TPOC monthly.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, standard operating procedures, and reports on sample processing methods for publication. Perform a Knowledge Presentation of technical expertise to laboratory members to increase the knowledge of lab members at least once a year.
- Communicate experimental data, laboratory or other task
-related issues to the PI or assigned TPOC. Communicate with vendors for technical support and troubleshooting. - Maintain laboratory records documenting sample processing, protocol design and usage, and data management that meet current CGS and Institutional requirements and ensure continuity and collective-sharing of resources. Maintain sample processing workflows in the CGS Laboratory Information Management System with all required or supporting information embedded in the Order Forms and Workflows. Implement only current SOPs reviewed and signed by PI/Supervisors/COR/TPOC.
- Perform sample processing, high-throughput sequencing library preparation for all Illumina platforms ( e.g. HiSeq , MiSeq , and Tru Seq ) for viral and other pathogen genome sequencing to support multiple CGS projects. Library preparation includes using robotics for PCR cleanup and adapter ligation, nucleic acid extraction and quality control measures as outlined in SOPs reviewed and implemented by CGS. Samples are provided by USAMRIID and may reach approximately 1500 samples/libraries per year .
