A well‑established manufacturer of advanced HVAC and mechanical systems is seeking a Mechanical Systems Engineer with deep, hands‑on knowledge of HVAC system design and operation. This role is ideal for an engineer who understands HVAC workflows inside and out
—from refrigerant cycle fundamentals to real‑world system sequencing—and can confidently design and select mechanical components for complex air‑handling and refrigeration systems.
This position offers strong technical ownership, cross‑functional collaboration, and the opportunity to influence real products that are built, tested, and deployed in demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities HVAC System Design- Design and engineer complete HVAC and refrigeration systems, including:
- Refrigerant cycles
- Expansion valves
- Evaporators (EVAP)
- Compressors
- Develop and document system sequences of operation and mechanical design intent.
- Translate application and performance requirements into robust mechanical system designs.
- Design, size, and select HVAC components such as:
- Coils (DX, chilled water, hot water)
- Fans and blowers
- Valves, piping, and refrigerant accessories
- Define engineering requirements and performance criteria for mechanical components.
- Evaluate component tradeoffs related to performance, manufacturability, and reliability.
- Perform airflow, heat transfer, refrigeration capacity, and pressure drop calculations.
- Support system testing, validation, and troubleshooting during development and production.
- Identify opportunities to improve system efficiency, reliability, and serviceability.
- Work closely with manufacturing, service, and controls teams to ensure designs perform as intended in real‑world conditions.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across existing and new product platforms.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigeration principles.
- Proven experience designing or engineering HVAC or mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to select and specify coils, fans, and major HVAC components.
- Comfortable working in a hands‑on, manufacturing‑aligned engineering environment.
- Experience with commercial, industrial, or mission‑critical HVAC systems.
- Familiarity with engineered‑to‑order or configured‑to‑order equipment.
- Background collaborating with production and field service teams.
- Understanding of HVAC codes, standards, and best practices.
