About the RoleAWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles to help deliver safety and security while providing the lowest possible cost and highest capacity.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesAs the Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure, including reviewing design documents, leading Factory Witness Testing (FWT), managing third‑party commissioning vendors, ensuring compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements, and reporting progress. You will design test scripts, manage project budgets, and lead several projects to deliver data center capacity.
BasicQualifications
- 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or 5+ years of relevant discipline work experience
- High technical competency in either mechanical or electrical or control systems utilized in critical infrastructures, with the capability to learn and be trained in the others.
- Understand the design concept and intent by reviewing mechanical or electrical design documentation, including drawings, specifications, vendor submittals and sequences of operations and provide feedback in accordance with Amazon standards for basis of design.
- Review commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts and reports developed by vendors to ensure accuracy in accordance with the design requirements.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Strong communication skills, detail oriented, highly organized, and able to work in high stress environments to maintain calm and respectful interaction with multiple teams
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures
- Ability to read and edit construction documents (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.)
- Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components based on design intent and approved equipment submittals
