Position Summary:
To provide creative, non-credit personal enrichment instruction to adults with intellectual disabilities within the CEWD Department. Adjunct Faculty shall teach proposed and/or assigned courses approved by the program manager and executive director. Course topics include:
- Science, Math & STEM
- Computer & Technology Basics
- Creative Arts
- Health & Personal Safety
- Literary, Cultural & Writing
- Life Skills
- Plan detailed, relevant, creative lesson plans to engage students.
- Provide course descriptions, learning objectives and supply needs to the Program Manager.
- Complete orientation process for adjunct faculty, including Title IX and other College Policy training.
- Submit and update personnel forms required for employment.
- Provide timely notice if unable to attend class or scheduled meetings.
- Submit class evaluations and other documents as directed by program staff.
- Cultivate open-minded inquiry.
- Promote cooperation and mutual respect among students.
- Provide applicable and relevant classroom exercises and activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education:
Appropriate education level will vary based on the course being taught. - Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Basic computer skills necessary for utilizing technology in the classroom.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Previous teaching, teaching assistant or student teaching experience.
- Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.
