AdjunctJob Description Position Summary
A medical assistant adjunct instructor is responsible for planning, instructing, and evaluating students in the theoretical and practical skills required for a medical assistant career. They combine their professional medical experience with teaching skills to prepare students for certification exams and entry into the workforce. Days and times depend on specific course schedules, evenings and Saturday’s may be required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Instruction and Curriculum Delivery: Deliver engaging lectures and hands‑on training sessions in a classroom, lab, or online environment, covering both clinical and administrative aspects of medical assisting. Topics often include anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, EKG, phlebotomy, medical terminology, and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Skill Demonstration and
Coaching:
Demonstrate proper clinical procedures and provide one‑on‑one or group coaching to ensure students master technical skills, such as measuring vital signs, injections, collecting specimens, and assisting with minor procedures. - Assessment and Evaluation: Develop, administer, and grade assignments, papers, quizzes, and exams to evaluate student progress and competency.
- Student Mentorship and Advising: Provide constructive feedback, advise students on academic and career matters, and help them connect to college resources to support their professional development and success.
- Program and Curriculum Support: Participate in curriculum review and development activities, recommend textbooks and instructional materials, and stay current with industry trends and healthcare regulations to ensure course content remains relevant and aligns with accreditation standards (e.g., MAERB Core Curriculum objectives).
- Administration and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete student records, including attendance and grades, and submit all required academic reports and documentation in a timely manner according to college policies.
- Professional Development: Attend faculty meetings, orientations, and professional development activities to continuously improve teaching skills and maintain expertise in the medical assisting field.
