Occupational Therapist - Registered; School-Based

Exempt; full-time; 35 hours per week;
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m.

- 4:00 p.m.; 10 month position (44 week position working through the school year; 12 month salary listed); full-benefits.

This professional position is responsible for evaluation, assessment, goal development and occupational therapy intervention services for children (ages 3 - 21) who are referred to the Frederick County Developmental Center (FCDC) through the school-based services program by Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS). School-based occupational therapy services are provided primarily in FCPS facilities. Supervision is received from the FCDC School Program Supervisor.

• Assess, observe, and develop programs and treatment goals for eligible school-age children
• Provide information and recommendations to families and school staff
• Provide appropriate services to promote access to and benefit from students  educational programs
• Recommend strategies and modifications when appropriate, to improve educational performance
• Provide collaborative consultation and training to school teams and families
• Attend in-service training and other appropriate meetings and conferences
• Prepare and submit documentation of services provided
• Maintain service-related records, forms and documents
• Perform other related duties as required

• Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy program
• Current Occupational Therapy license issued by the Maryland State Board of Examiners, or current Occupational Therapy license issued by another state with ability to obtain the Maryland license within 30 days of hire (Maryland license must be maintained throughout employment)
• Requires the ability to arrange and complete travel to various sites (using a car or other reliable transportation)

• Knowledge of Federal, State and local laws governing Occupational Therapists
• Discretion and good judgment in dealing with sensitive, personal and medical information, with ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality
• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, clients and their family members, and the general public
• Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to accurately compile and maintain therapeutic records and related documentation

• Pediatric field work experience as part of the aforementioned OT program, or pediatric OT work experience following graduation

• While working in this position, the employee is required to frequently sit; occasionally walk, reach, perform repetitive motions, and drive; rarely climb, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds
• While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work indoors; occasionally potentially exposed to infectious diseases; rarely outdoors
