SUPPLY CHAIN / MATERIALS MANAGER JOB SUMMARY
Direct and oversee procurement and materials operations to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components, superior quality, competitive pricing, and uninterrupted production support.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Develop and implement policies and procedures for purchasing, MRO, VMI, capital requests, and materials management.
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate Materials Buyers; establish goals and measure performance.
- Plan and direct systems to meet or exceed production and customer requirements.
- Review and approve requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, and claims for policy compliance.
- Analyze market conditions, material availability, and cost trends; prepare market analyses to support sourcing decisions.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies, including supplier selection, RFQs/RFPs, negotiations, and contract management to ensure continuity of supply.
- Negotiate pricing, delivery, and terms; drive supplier performance improvements in quality, cost, and delivery.
- Conduct vendor audits and manage approved supplier qualifications.
- Manage inventory to optimize availability and minimize excess/obsolete stock, including cycle counts, E&O review, and inventory turn improvement.
- Oversee and improve ERP/IQMS systems to ensure accurate purchasing data, inventory integrity, and material flow.
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through value analysis, alternate sourcing, and strategic supplier partnerships.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure contract and production requirements are met.
- Manage surplus material disposition.
- Support General Manager and leadership team in achieving company objectives.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience (3–5+ years related experience).
- 3+ years supervisory experience.
- Automotive experience with OEM systems knowledge.
- Strong background in plastic materials and processing.
- Proficient in spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Inventory management and logistics experience preferred.
- Injection mold design knowledge preferred.
- Ability to interpret business, technical, and regulatory documents.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, including mathematical and statistical application.
- Ability to manage complex variables and interpret written, oral, and diagram-based instructions.
