D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia. Campuses are located in Franklin and Suffolk. There also is a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services and training for businesses and industries; special interest classes for the community; and summer classes for youth through the Regional Workforce Development Center.
A dual enrollment program for high school students, online courses, and developmental studies classes are available at the college as well.
Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.
Creating a learning environment that facilitates students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in a subject. Teaching encompasses four components:
Instructional Design, Instructional Delivery, Instructional Effectiveness, and Instructional Expertise.
Engage in scholarly and/or creative activity, which may include conference attendance and presentation, professional organizations participation, academic coursework, scholarly research and publications, and grant activity.
Performing assigned or presumed duties according to one's role at the college. These activities support and advance both the mission of the VCCS and the college to enhance the effective functioning of the college. These responsibilities include: participate in the college's development and evaluation plan for part-time teaching faculty; participate in required department, committee and college meetings, adhere to college and VCCS policies, perform assigned duties, and maintain a collegial working relationship with faculty and staff.
Quality participation and commitment to students, college and/or community organizations, which in an expectation of one's activities as a professional educator. Activities in this domain are differentiated college representation, college citizenship, and community development.
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
Associate's or equivalent in Welding (as noted in the VCCS-29) - 5 years of related work experience
