As the Marketing & Communications Coordinator at 20
Fathoms, you are responsible for the development and execution of all day-to-day marketing and communications initiatives to advance the organization’s mission and key priorities working at the direction of the manager who will drive the strategy and priorities.
You will be creative, data-driven, and comfortable developing, implementing, and evaluating marketing and communications activities. In this role, you will work closely with 20
Fathoms’ initiative leads to promote the organization and our programs through both digital and traditional channels.
This position supports the success of all 20
Fathoms programs including startup services, small business support, talent initiatives, access to capital, events, fundraising, coworking space, and other initiatives. Ultimately, success in this role is measured by the attraction of program participants, measurable engagement in social platforms and new members.
Critical top-level objectives are:
Content development:
You are a writer and a designer and will produce news releases, blog posts, webpages, articles, newsletter content, flyers, graphics, ads, social media content, and other communications materials.
Website management:
You will be the point person for the 20
Fathoms website and will serve as website administrator, ensuring that content is up to date while you maintain best practices related to SEO, user experience, and website accessibility.
Social media:
You enjoy creating and managing social media content and will be responsible for coordinating the 20
Fathoms’ social media content calendar. You will implement the social media strategy that supports organizational goals; create content including copy, graphics, and reels; and optimize content to grow followers and increase engagement.
Email outreach:
You will manage 20
Fathoms’ email newsletters and alerts, inform the email strategy, manage distribution lists, and provide end-to-end email production including identifying stories, writing content, and designing emails.
Program marketing:
You’ll work directly with our internal program leads and external partners, providing client-centric service as you manage and execute marketing campaigns to promote 20
Fathoms and partner services and attract members/clients to our programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-create and implement marketing campaigns, execute communications tactics, and collaborate with 20
Fathoms program leads and outside vendors to promote programs, coworking space, events, and fundraising initiatives. - Coordinate communications content calendar, identifying opportunities and gaps, and work with team members to ensure the timely development of content.
- Serve as in-house writer, designer, and photographer. Develop written and visual content for all communications outlets including website, email, social media, flyers, signage, and media.
- Serve as primary administrator for the 20
Fathoms website and social media channels. - Manage all email newsletters and alerts including our Community Newsletter, event alerts, and leadership updates.
- Identify media opportunities, draft news releases, pitch to media, and coordinate media interviews.
- Represent 20
Fathoms at internal and external events and expos. - Collaborate with manager to refine and apply organizational messaging across all communications channels. Ensure consistent use of brand voice, style, and vision.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in marketing, communications, or a related field. (Minimum 3-5 years of experience.)
- Excellent writing skills and experience writing news releases, email newsletters, blog posts, webpages, and social media posts.
