This role is essential to ensuring Tennessee's workforce system responds quickly and effectively to employer needs, especially during workforce disruptions. You will help businesses stabilize, retain workers, and recover faster by applying experience in employer engagement, workforce programs, business services, or Rapid Response with strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
Job OverviewThe Director of Employer Services provides statewide leadership for employer‑facing workforce services, with a primary focus on Rapid Response, Layoff Aversion, and Business Engagement. This role ensures consistent, high‑quality service delivery across Local Workforce Development Areas (LWDAs), American Job Centers (AJCs), Business Service Teams, and partner agencies, and helps employers navigate workforce disruptions, retain talent, and support economic stability across Tennessee.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and support Rapid Response and Layoff Aversion activities statewide, including employer meetings, mass communications, and onsite events.
- Oversee tactical implementation of the Business Engagement Plan, ensuring consistent employer service delivery across regions.
- Coordinate employer services across AJCs, LWDAs, Business Services Teams, and workforce partners.
- Provide and support statewide training and technical assistance related to employer engagement, Rapid Response, and service standards.
- Guide strategic use of workforce systems (e.g., Jobs4TN/VOS, Econo Vue, Zendesk CRM) to support documentation, reporting, and performance tracking.
- Monitor performance metrics, identify trends, and support continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with WIOA, federal and state regulations, CFGs, and TDLWD priorities.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners, including Workforce Services, UI, Communications, and economic development partners.
- Frequent statewide travel (40%) required.
- Availability for non‑traditional hours (evenings/weekends) during workforce disruption events.
- Bachelor’s degree in workforce development, business, public administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with Rapid Response and Layoff Aversion initiatives.
- Experience delivering training or technical assistance. Familiarity with workforce data systems and CRM platforms.
- Experience in employer engagement, workforce programs, business services, or Rapid Response.
- Strong understanding of workforce systems and employer‑focused service delivery.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Frequent statewide travel (40%) required.
- Availability for non‑traditional hours (evenings/weekends) during workforce disruption events.
