This job opening is for one Maintenance Section Supervisor I or II depending on business need and applicant’s qualifications and experience. Qualification and experience will determine the applicant’s position and pay. The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant’s work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.
SalaryMaintenance Section Supervisor I – B24: $65,104 – $106,634 yearly. Maintenance Section Supervisor II – B25: $69,572 – $114,099 yearly.

- Drive a state vehicle and inspect road conditions, work‑in‑progress and completed work by crews and contractors.
- Plan, coordinate and implement emergency response to inclement weather, flooding, accidents and hazardous material spills affecting area roadways.
- Plan, schedule and coordinate work project needs to include personnel, equipment and material with the Area Engineer and other district staff on a regular basis.
- Prepare and monitor the budget.
- Prioritize and assign projects to the maintenance section assistant and crew chiefs; guide them in the planning and scheduling of personnel/materials/equipment necessary to complete the work; ensure projects follow established safety guidelines.
- Responsible for maintenance section office activities including human resources, public relations, facilities, inventory management and general office administrative matters.
- Responsible for overseeing the operation and maintenance of light and heavy equipment.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
- May train other employees.
- Education
:
High School Graduate or Equivalent in general high school studies. - Experience
:- Maintenance Section Supervisor I: 7 years roadway maintenance or construction‑related work.
- Maintenance Section Supervisor II: 8 years roadway maintenance or construction‑related work. Must have 3 years supervisory/managerial experience. Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience. Experience may be satisfied by full‑time or prorated part‑time equivalent. Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year‑per‑year basis.
- Licenses and Certifications
:- Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Must have a Commercial Class A Driver’s License.
