Job Summary:

The GDI Ainsworth family is looking for an energetic team member with commercial experience to lead the building operation technicians in our Tennessee office. This Lead Building Technician will be responsible for leading the team with performing routine and specialized maintenance and repairs in various areas such as buildings, equipment, and grounds. This may include tasks such as painting, plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and janitorial duties or other specialized work as required by client facilities.

This role will include oversight of repairs and work in a manner to provide guidance and insight to fellow technicians.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting routine inspections of premises and equipment.
  • Performing preventative maintenance.
  • Handling basic repairs and maintenance.
  • Performance of specialized maintenance work as required. Examples may include operation and maintenance of heavy machinery e.g. excavators/graders, maintenance of vehicles, basic millwork and carpentry repairs, roadways and grounds maintenance, maintenance of dock locks and levelers, maintenance of door systems, roofing repairs, etc.
  • Delegating and directing the activities of outside contractors where needed including setting priorities, performing quality control checks and certifying invoices.
  • Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them.
  • Completion of electronic or paper-based records of maintenance tasks.
  • Planning and directing maintenance operations under supervision.
  • Problem solving for the team.
  • Instructing team members on proper maintenance techniques and providing hands on training.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the maintenance field with commercial experience
  • Ideally 1+ years of leadership involvement leading a maintenance support team
  • Skills in problem-solving, troubleshooting, and repairing or replacing faulty parts
  • Coordinating efforts to uphold operational standards
  • Responding promptly to maintenance issues
  • Blend of technical expertise and leadership skills
  • Prioritizing tasks effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Advanced organizational skills
