Overview

The Clinical Systems Director serves as the primary interface between Specialized Dental Partners (SDP) and all clinical technology vendors. This role ensures that the company’s 12 practice management systems (PMS) and related clinical applications effectively support patient care, front-office operations, revenue cycle processes, and the enterprise’s AI-first transformation strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, the Director partners closely with doctors, clinical teams, practice managers, area managers, operations executives, finance, accounting, and IT.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as SDP’s primary liaison for all clinical systems vendors across specialties.
  • Manage relationships, negotiations, SLAs, and enterprise agreements.
  • Support long-term consolidation and standardization strategy for 12 PMS platforms.
  • Partner with clinical, administrative, finance, accounting, and IT stakeholders.
  • Drive interoperability improvements for scheduling, care coordination, clinician workflows, and RCM.
  • Collaborate with BI teams to improve clinical data quality.
  • Implement governance for releases, upgrades, and vendor roadmaps.
  • Support enterprise AI initiatives and workflow modernization.
  • Act as escalation point for system-related issues.
  • Ensure security, privacy, and compliance.
  • Identify cost savings and eliminate redundant spend.
  • Maintain a multi-year clinical technology roadmap.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Dental Services Organization (DSO) or multi-site healthcare operations, including direct involvement with clinical or practice-facing technologies.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with clinical or dental practice management systems (PMS) such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, or specialty platforms.
  • 5+ years of vendor management experience, including contract negotiation, SLA oversight, and enterprise-level vendor relationships.
  • 5+ years of experience leading platform standardization, system consolidation, or interoperability initiatives across multiple sites or business units.
  • 5+ years of experience working with clinical workflows, scheduling, care coordination, and revenue cycle processes (RCM) in a healthcare or dental environment.
  • 5+ years of experience managing technological roadmaps in complex, multi-system environments.
  • 5+ years of experience with cross-functional communication and stakeholder alignment at the executive, clinical, and operational levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience with specialty dental systems such as TDO, PBS Endo, Dentrix Enterprise, or similar platforms.
  • 3+ years of experience in systems integration, data modeling, or enterprise architecture within healthcare or dental environments.
  • 2+ years of exposure to AI, automation, or healthcare AI tools, including workflow automation or predictive analytics.
  • 2+ years of experience with SQL, Azure, HL7, FHIR, APIs, or RPA technologies supporting clinical or operational systems.
  • 3+ years of experience leading transformation, consolidation, or modernization initiatives at scale.

  • Evaluate all decisions through stewardship and cost-savings lens.
  • Identify 1%+ savings opportunities.
  • Support scalable growth and frictionless patient experience.
Success Measures
  • Reduction in PMS platform count or progress toward consolidation.
  • Improved interoperability and clinical workflow efficiency.
  • Improved data quality and BI reporting.
  • Vendor performance and SLA improvements.

  • Roadmap execution aligned with AI-first strategy.
