AboutThe Role
We are seeking a Design Optimization Specialist – Mechanical to support engineering optimization initiatives for electrical equipment products such as Switchgear, Switchboards, and Enclosures. The role focuses on improving design quality, manufacturability, cost efficiency, and process effectiveness through data-driven analysis and collaboration with manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities- Support mechanical design optimization projects to improve engineering and manufacturing processes.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret design and manufacturing data to drive project prioritization.
- Perform quality assurance reviews for new designs and Bills of Material (BOM).
- Develop and support cost-benefit analysis for design and optimization initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing and production teams to resolve design issues.
- Troubleshoot design concerns and ensure smooth implementation into production.
- Support New Product Development (NPD) and product improvement activities.
- Maintain design documentation in PLM systems.
- Ensure compliance with design standards and best practices.
- 5–8 years of experience in Mechanical Design / Design Optimization.
- Strong experience with Creo (3+ years).
- Experience with Windchill PLM.
- Hands-on experience in:
- Sheet metal design
- Plastic component design
- Experience working with electrical equipment such as:
- Switchgear
- Switchboards
- Enclosures (2–3+ years preferred)
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Experience in New Product Development (NPD) environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality.
- Exposure to engineering or manufacturing process optimization.
- Experience in cost reduction and value engineering initiatives.
- Knowledge of manufacturing methods for electrical enclosures and switch gear assemblies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
