Environmental Engineer
Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations
- Lead and support technical operations and project delivery across a variety of Facilities consulting assignments.
- Monitor project performance, assist with staffing/resource planning, and contribute to regional operational initiatives.
- Support the Director and regional leadership with group management tasks as assigned.
- Promote a safe workplace through adherence to safety policies and proper use of PPE.
- Review project financials and support billing, invoicing accuracy, and collections as needed.
Business Development & Client Relationships
- Provide quality assurance, technical risk review, and oversight of proposal content and pricing strategies.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with owners, architects, contractors, public sector clients, and industry partners.
- Support leadership and business development staff in expanding client portfolios and pursuing strategic growth opportunities.
- Represent ECS at industry events, conferences, client education and networking functions, and participate in technical committees.
Staff Development & Management
- Lead, mentor, and coach junior, mid-level, and Associate Principal-level staff to support their growth and leadership readiness.
- Participate in recruiting, workforce planning, onboarding, and succession-building efforts.
- Conduct coaching conversations, provide performance feedback, and support professional development planning.
- Engage in mentoring and committee participation for candidates pursuing Associate Principal designation.
Technical Principal / Project Oversight
- Serve as project principal and senior reviewer on Facilities consulting projects, offering technical leadership and accountability.
- Perform peer reviews of reports, technical evaluations, designs, investigations, and assessments.
- Oversee project execution including field investigations, testing, commissioning efforts, and development of repair strategies.
- Resolve complex technical or operational challenges, provide direction to project teams, and communicate solutions to clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and consistent with ECS standards for technical quality and service.
Qualifications
- BS or MS in Civil Engineering, Architecture (NCARB), Civil (Structural) Engineering, or Architectural Engineering preferred
- 12+ years of relevant professional experience
- Licensed or certified as at least one of the following:
- Professional Engineer (P.E.), Registered Architect (R.A.), International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC) offered RRC, RWC, REWC, RBEC, CBECxP, University of Wisconsin-Madison offered BECxP and CxA+BE
