Responsibilities
- Perform cost analysis of components, finished products, and projects in accordance with automotive and industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain cost calculation models (raw materials, labor, tooling, logistics, energy, depreciation, etc.).
- Evaluate product profitability and identify cost reduction opportunities in collaboration with related departments (R&D, Purchasing, Production, Quality).
- Participate in the preparation of commercial offers (RFQs) by providing accurate cost estimates for new products or technical modifications.
- Compare forecasted and actual costs
, and conduct detailed cost variance analyses
. - Support project teams during the product development phase to ensure both economic and industrial feasibility.
- Continuously update cost databases and economic parameters (material prices, hourly rates, etc.).
- Work closely with Sales, Controlling, and Purchasing teams to align costing data and cost strategy.
- Develop and document manufacturing workflows, including tooling, fixtures, and equipment needs in close collaboration with the production engineering department.
- Engineering degree in Industrial Engineering
, Mechanical Engineering
, Industrial Finance
, or Production Management
. - Proven experience in the automotive sector or in another highly structured industrial environment (preferably 5 to 10 years).
- Proven experience in manufacturing engineering, process planning, or production preparation.
- Knowledge of cost calculation methods and analytical tools (Cost Breakdown, Cost Driver Analysis, etc.).
- Good understanding of automotive manufacturing processes (plastic injection, assembly, wiring, metal processing, etc.).
- Familiar with ERP systems (Pro Alpha, etc.) and advanced Microsoft Excel tools
. - Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken);
German language skills are an advantage for communication with European clients and suppliers.
