Team Leader, Retail

Job Summary

The Team Leader is responsible for assisting the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager with the execution of operational, sales, and merchandising objectives by delivering a Legendary Customer Experience. They promote a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers and vendors, and train Team Members on policies and procedures.

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Work scheduled shifts and adapt to varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime as required by business needs.
• Uphold and enforce policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
• Deliver Legendary Customer Service through GURA:
  • Greet the Customer.
  • Uncover Customer’s Needs & Wants.
  • Recommend Product Solutions.
  • Ask to Add Value & Appreciate the Customer.
• Perform duties during 95% of the day, including:
  • Execute assigned basic, promotional, and seasonal merchandising activities.
  • Perform opening/closing procedures.
  • Transport and deposit to bank.
  • Assess store conditions and assign duties.
  • Organize and prioritize workflow using the daily planner.
  • Recover merchandise.
  • Participate in mandatory freight process.
  • Execute regular and promotional price change activities.
  • Resolve customer complaints and ensure a Legendary shopping experience.
  • Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to alarm calls.
  • Communicate job functions, responsibilities and financial goals to Team Members.
  • Operate cash register/computer supervising cash handling procedures.
  • Assist Team Members with policy application.
  • Ensure safety and care of birds, sanitize poultry holding tanks, and attend to birds as required.
  • Operate forklift and baler.
  • Complete required documentation.
  • Obtain necessary licenses or certifications.
• May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Experience: Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required. Ability to read, write, and count accurately is essential.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.
• Ability to perform and execute the key responsibilities of Team Members.

• Environment is primarily indoor with moderate noise; indoor floors and outdoor lots are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.). Lighting and temperature are adequate.
• Shifts vary but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours.
• Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
• Promote a safe and productive work environment and adhere to company safety training and guidelines.

• Move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Push and pull up to 2,000 pounds with appropriate equipment.
• Lift or reach merchandise overhead occasionally.
• Stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders frequently.
• Move throughout the store entire shift.
• Operate and use all store equipment such as dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register (forklift and baler not required if under 18).
• Read, write, and count accurately for documentation.
• Use strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Process information/merchandise through the point-of-sale system.
• Handle contact with birds/poultry.
• Complete training and certification for propane dispensing (not required if under 18).
• Travel as needed for district support.
• Drive or operate a vehicle for business needs.
• Position is non-sedentary.
• Complete required training and certifications for various business needs.
