Job Description

The Maintenance Technician (MT1) is an entry‑level maintenance technician position responsible for the maintenance of equipment for the purpose of keeping it in production‑ready and safe condition by helping to administer the preventive maintenance program, assisting with troubleshooting equipment issues and making repairs as needed. The Maintenance Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Job Summary

This position is focused on performing preventive maintenance tasks, responding to manufacturing and business partner requests, operating maintenance room equipment according to procedure, and ensuring equipment remains in production‑ready and safe condition.

Job Function / Essential Duties
  • Performs preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Answers manufacturing & other business partner’s calls and requests.
  • Performs all tasks necessary to operate maintenance room equipment according to procedure.
  • Maintains equipment in production‑ready and safe condition.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs equipment as needed.
  • Actively participates in daily team production meetings – communicates key items within the plant environment on safety, quality, maintenance, production and continuous improvement.
  • Follows work instructions as needed.
  • Supports root cause analysis to determine if actions can be taken immediately or if appropriate personnel need to be called.
  • Maintains a clean & organized environment in the work area.
  • Supports equipment preventive maintenance program.
  • Assists maintenance staff to ensure all auxiliary equipment is in place and in working order.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Competencies &

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 1 to 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Successful completion of Maintenance Tech program & test.
  • Possess a high degree of skill and a broad knowledge of mechanical principles and electromechanical techniques, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, robotics or other technical expertise preferred.
  • Possesses well‑developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to utilize basic and advanced hand tools for a multitude of applications.
  • Ability to read blueprints & schematics (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic) preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Computer experience is preferred.
  • Must take maintenance Ivy Tech courses (6 total) within 18 months of assuming position.
