Job SummaryThe Maintenance Parts Technician is responsible for sourcing, ordering, receiving, stocking, and issuing maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) parts to support plant reliability and uptime. This role ensures the right parts are available at the right time while maintaining accurate inventory records, controlling costs, and supporting the maintenance team’s daily needs.
Key Responsibilities Parts Ordering & Procurement- Identify, source, and order maintenance parts, supplies, and equipment to support planned and unplanned maintenance activities
- Create, track, and expedite purchase orders to ensure on‑time delivery of critical parts
- Work with approved vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate lead times, and resolve pricing or availability issues
- Ensure parts meet equipment specifications and maintenance requirements before ordering
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of MRO parts, tools, and consumables
- Monitor usage trends and adjust minimum/maximum stock levels to prevent shortages or excess inventory
- Receive, inspect, label, and properly store incoming parts
- Perform regular cycle counts and annual physical inventories; investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Issue parts to maintenance technicians, ensuring proper documentation and system entry
- Coordinate with maintenance planners and supervisors on upcoming work orders and required materials
- Identify obsolete, slow‑moving, or critical spare parts and make recommendations for stocking strategies
- Support equipment reliability initiatives by ensuring critical spares are available
- Maintain part records, vendor information, and inventory transactions in purchasing systems
- Ensure accurate part descriptions, part numbers, and equipment cross‑references
- Maintain documentation for warranties, returns, and special orders
- Generate reports related to inventory levels, spend, and usage as needed
- Assist in controlling maintenance spend through efficient ordering and inventory practices
- Identify opportunities to standardize parts and reduce duplication
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to storeroom organization, processes, and accuracy
- Follow all safety, quality, and company policies related to parts handling and storage
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or supply chain training preferred
- 1–3 years of experience in maintenance storeroom, inventory, or parts procurement
- Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and industrial maintenance parts
- Experience using purchasing systems and basic purchasing processes
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, inventory software)
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple orders simultaneously
