Summary
Under administrative direction of the General Manager, develops, implements, and supervises departmental programs and procedures designed to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources and equipment while ensuring manufacturing levels meet established standards of safety, quality, and productivity.

- Direct and coordinate, through subordinate supervisory personnel, day-to-day manufacturing operations by monitoring data and information, documenting production operations, determining methods to improve productivity, ensure associate safety, reduce costs, increase associate morale, etc., and establishing and implementing goals designed to achieve these improvements.
- Performs various supervisory functions for the manufacturing supervisory staff including conducting performance evaluations, establishing work improvement goals and function priorities, promoting safety, quality, and other company performance standards, etc.
- Provides guidance to the development of a manufacturing process plan, including personnel requirements, material needs, subcontract requirements, and facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
- Prepares and implements manufacturing department budget and achieves financial objectives by developing and implementing strategies to reduce cost through improved efficiency, yield, and asset utilization.
- Confers with other managers to coordinate operations and activities between departments.
- Analyzes staff training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.
- Attends and participates in various company meetings regarding scheduling, safety, quality control, company policy, etc.
- Supports annual Quality Circle presentations and Kaizen activities by promoting problem solving in a team environment, as well as team communication.
- Supports and implements TS16949 processes.
- Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution to include strategic planning, resource allocation, manpower modeling, leadership techniques, and manufacturing methods.
- Knowledge of policies and practices involved in personnel/human resource functions.
- Excellent leadership skills including ability to coach and motivate work force in a teamwork environment, foster support of company policies and procedures, conduct performance evaluations, establish work performance goals, etc.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills for conveying and receiving information and data related to manufacturing operations, interpreting company policies and procedures, safety and quality standards, etc., and for making oral and written presentations of departmental activities.
- Thorough knowledge of company philosophy, policies, and procedures related to safety, quality, and customer relations.
- Thorough knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing the manufacture of goods.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills for implementing countermeasures to correct manufacturing problems.
- Computer literate with advanced computer word processing and spreadsheet skills.
- Ability to make decisions in a fast paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Knowledge of numbers, their operations, and interrelationships including arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
- Knowledge of TS16949 processes.
This job operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing some duties of this job, the employee is exposed to dust particles, chemicals utilized on the premises and mobile equipment. The noise level on the job site can be loud.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, the position does access the manufacturing facility. To navigate the area the individual will need to be able to walk moderate distances, climb a limited amount of stairs, and have the ability to communicate with operators safely.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
