Overview
The Kentucky Department of Parks is currently seeking a full-time Safety Branch Manager to provide safety leadership, giving support and guidance to management in an office setting while providing training and guidance to 44 park locations. This position often works in the field doing inspections, trainings, and assisting safety coordinators keeping parks locations OSHA, EPA, DOP, and general safety compliant for employees and the public.
Duties- Implement programs necessary to be KYOSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agency compliant.
- Review all DOP existing programs and policies regarding safety training issues, making recommendations to management.
- Schedule trainings and activities across all park locations to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and compliance.
- Communicate concerns and issues with management and Central Office staff.
- Coordinate with management, legal, and parks staff regarding Kentucky Emergency Management continuity of operation plan. Serves as representative of Kentucky State Parks.
- Previous management and safety program experience.
- OSHA 10-30 approved trainer and training experience.
- Strong knowledge of KYOSHA compliance.

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR
SKILLS:
Five years of professional administrative experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for
EXPERIENCE:
A master's degree in public or business administration or a related field will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for
EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business or research experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working ConditionsIncumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting. Minimal travel may be required.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
