This is a full-time position with the KY Department of Parks based in Frankfort, KY for a Capital Construction Project Manager that will also perform the duties of Branch Manager for the Planning and Design Branch in the Facilities Management Division.
ResponsibilitiesPosition will be responsible for reviewing designs, project plans, and overseeing capital projects, ensuring they meet the required standards. The role includes reviewing engineering and architectural designs, collaborating with both internal and external design teams to ensure Parks project design goals are met. Manage workflows to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. This position also manages other design and engineering professionals to provide guidance and oversight of all Planning and Design Branch projects for the division.
This hands-on role requires effective communication and collaboration with various stakeholders and planning and design staff to deliver high-quality project solutions and staff performance planning.
- Proficiency in various architectural and engineering disciplines, including knowledge of building codes, design standards, and construction methodologies
- Experience in relevant software, appropriate to the profession, and integration as it applies to modern architectural or engineering practices
- Strong Project Management skills, with the ability to lead and manage teams to meet project objectives effectively
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Professional licensure and relevant professional experience
- A strong commitment to sustainability and innovative design solutions
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and staff

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must be licensed as a professional architect by the Kentucky Board of Architects OR, must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers & Land Surveyors OR, must be registered as a professional landscape architect by the Kentucky Board of Landscape Architects OR, must be certified as a Certified Interior Designer by the Kentucky Board of Architects.
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials.
Work typically is in an office setting and at construction sites. Work at construction sites may involve exposure to conditions common to construction sites, such as dirty and dusty environments, asbestos, dynamite, and noise, which may require the following of safety procedures. Extensive travel is generally required.
Probationary PeriodThis job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
