Position SummaryUnder the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervising warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product to meet company service and cost objectives. Planning inbound/outbound volume, customer communication, space utilization, and equipment management. People management includes hiring, training, labor planning, performance appraisal, and problem resolution. The role requires significant travel and flexibility.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Develop and manage systems and procedures for operations, equipment, and products.
- Meet productivity, service goals, and client SLAs.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain KPI compliance and quality system requirements.
- Communicate with senior management and client representatives.
- Plan daily schedules and assign duties to warehouse staff.
- Reorganize warehouse space and adjust staffing as needed.
- Ensure team training and adherence to SOPs.
- Conduct staff meetings to review activities.
- Train team on required systems, including WMS.
- Procure necessary software/hardware per IT policies.
- Stay informed on technology changes.
- Develop proficiency in client systems.
- Maintain high‑level service standards.
- Support client accounts with operational and administrative assistance.
- Communicate and respond to customer requests.
- Lead customer meetings to address issues.
- Coordinate supplier/customer site visits.
- Support annual operating budget development.
- Implement controls to meet cost, revenue, and profit targets.
- Ensure budgeting activities comply with contract guidelines.
- Maintain sanitation, security, housekeeping, safety, and MHE standards.
- Train staff on MHE use.
- Recommend new technology as applicable.
- Achieve safety metrics (IFR) through proactive culture.
- Audit warehouse for safety, security, and quality compliance.
- Adhere to all statutory health and safety requirements.
- Work overtime as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Manage warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 7+ years in logistics/distribution/relevant environment.
- 5+ years in a supervisory role.
- Able to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Proficient with WMS systems.
- English reading, writing, verbal.
- Business communication proficiency at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and timeliness.
- Good organizational, personnel, and communication skills.
- Leadership, supervision, and planning abilities.
- Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
